April 22, 2020 marks the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day! This Earth Day, we encourage you and your family to participate in a neighbourhood safari hosted by National Geographic. Joining in is easy! Simply draw, colour, or create your favourite animal and display it in your window, doorway or even drawn with chalk on your sidewalk for all to see. NatGeo@Home has made it even easier by providing coloring pages here. Everyone can then go on their own safaris—while practicing social distancing, —and spot different animals all over the neighborhood! NatGeo@Home states “the goal is that as you walk with.

CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) ACTION PLAN Prevention Activities Gateway Employees A communication has been sent to all employees with information on the coronavirus obtained from reliable sources. All have received Health Canada’s guidelines to prevent the spread of infections. We are currently stocking our offices with additional hand sanitizer, facial tissues, paper towels and disinfectant wipes, supplies permitting. Desks are to be cleared at the end of each day as much as possible to allow for thorough cleaning. All employees have been advised that they must stay home if they develop any of the symptoms relating to the virus or have been.

Pink Shirt Day On this day, we unite with millions of people across the world in taking a stand against bullying. The Pink Shirt Day campaign was started by two Nova Scotian teens, Travis Price and David Sheppard, after witnessing a grade 9 student being bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school on his first day. These two grade 12 students took a stand against homophobic bullying, which garnered media attention across the country. These brave boys saw a problem and hit it head on. They gathered others at their school and wore pink the following day to show.

Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) to Engage Risk Manager

Coast to coast, Condo Corporations have been facing steep increases to both premiums and deductibles. The IBC announced on Tuesday that a risk manager was being engaged to work with condominiums to increase awareness on how insurers view risk and evaluate properties. The risk manager would be able to provide guidance on what maintenance or actions can be taken by a Board to reduce risk. Read more on this on the Canadian Underwriter here.
